Where Art Thou?
When all is laid to ruin—
and the cries of the earth
compass the world without end,
we remain.
No light endureth.
The firmament is veiled in ash,
and flame walketh the nations.
The seas rise beyond their bounds,
and swallow the works of men—
those once held unshakable.
House is set against house.
Kindred are torn asunder.
The streets are filled with the wandering,
and none give shelter.
Confusion lieth upon the land as a veil,
and violence speaketh louder than mercy.
The innocent perish unseen.
Abominations rise—
and rise again—
without end.
And the love of gold
is lifted above all things living.
Those who stand against us draw near—
their countenance set in scorn,
their laughter unrestrained.
Still—
we remain.
Not whole—
yet unbroken.
Not at peace—
yet without fear.
We turn not away.
For we await Thee—
in glory,
upon Thy clouds.
Let the world fall.
Let it be brought low.
We do not fear its ending—
for its ending is just.
And though all creation
groaneth beneath its undoing,
we endure—
knowing
this darkness shall not endure.
Where art Thou?
